The full remastered scene of the award winning image "The International Space Station Transiting Tranquility Base" which was borne from a close crop of this image. You can see how close weather came to ruining this shot, as the clouds had just shifted prior to the transit, which you can see hovering over tranquility base.
These shots are planned weeks in advance, and require scouting a location along the path of transit, and setting up hours in advance to check seeing conditions against the forecast to make sure it is possible to resolve clear details on the station. This was captured using multiple telescopes and cameras, to simultaneously capturing the up-close shot of the station, while preserving the composition of the scene with a wider field of view. The stars were digitally added as an aesthetic choice after the fact, as the weather conditions and glare of the moon prevented them from being captured authentically.
The size indicated is the "leaf size", which will include a 1/2" white border for handling and framing.
