"Ultraviolet" by Andrew McCarthy
printed on C-Type Matt
By using Filters that remove all but the extreme limits of human vision, we can reveal what is hidden in celestial objects. Generally applied to deep space objects, I have never seen anyone try it with the moon. This was created using ultraviolet and infrared filters, and due to their relative positions on the electromagnetic spectrum, combining them gave me extreme color separation on the lunar regolith. This revealed our moon in a way I had never seen it, with a unique aesthetic. "Ultraviolet" remains one of my favorite pieces I've ever created.
