Lunation is the product of weeks of tribulations. It required an entire month working every day to capture, with an emphasis on exceptional quality and accuracy. In fact, I had to travel all across the state of Arizona to ensure I could dodge the weather. Still, I found myself shooting through rain and even a dust storm (this is the desert, after all). Since it was an accumulation of 12TB of data, my computer has never worked harder (or crashed so often).
While this final product is intended as an art piece, there is a lot of science to it. The angle of each moon, as well as their relative size (aside from the oversized central moon) is true to their exact position in the sky during capture. So this image shows you how the moon sways and dances in the sky from night to night. You can tell on each lunar horizon, different features are revealed as it progresses from waxing to waning, a product of the moon's elliptical orbit.
The size indicated is the "leaf size", which will include a 1/2" white border for handling and framing.
The signature will be applied directly to the image (see the preview for an example), as well as the edition number. Since these are produced at my home rather than a commercial print lab, they will arrive unframed in a rigid carboard mailer, for you to frame at your discretion. All prints are guaranteed for quality
Shipping and Fulfillment
Due to pandemic-related carrier delays, please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery. Be aware that most items ship much faster than this, but disruptions are hard to predict these days.
Signed prints will be printed within a week from the day they are ordered (if I'm home, it will be same day), and hand signed 48 hours later when the ink is completely cured. Then it will be carefully packaged in an oversized rigid envelope for shipping.
